I’ve been rummaging through my ENORMOUS stash – and equally enormous collection of patterns – and this caught my eye. Yarn now chosen, and this pattern definitely the one, it looks great on you. No, not doing stripes either. I’ve picked out a rich nut brown. I’ve had it for so long, it’s still got the tag on and it’s called Orlon. How long since anyone’s heard of Orlon?? Wish me luck, I’ve only ever thought about “top down” haven’t attempted one.

I am totally with you. I wasn’t so much hooked by the original theme of stripes. To me, it looked a little too casual than I wanted. I so much like the result with the solid color and it went with any outfits I chose. A literal ‘go-to sweater!’
It is way easier than it looks so if you’re a beginner it would be the perfect sweater to show off your passion of knitting. Go for it with a color you adore and let me know how you like your new sweater. Happy stitching!
I’m so glad you posted this, along with the photos. The Ravelry pictures didn’t catch my eye because of the stripes, but I love your version using a solid color. And it looks adorable on you! As a newbie knitter, it looks like something I might be able to tackle. I can’t wait to try it.

Yes, I used DK weight yarn and had to adjust the needle size. I made swatches a few times (you know, I had to let go of my old sweater so I was extra careful this time.) and tried to find the right needle size. Since I really loved this yarn (which is DK, light worsted) I had to play with needle size a bit. I think my fabric turned out little lose because of that but I like it even better. ;) It is really cozy and incredibly warm. I cannot wear it any more since it is getting warmer here already.

Hi, I just saw this pattern on Pinterest and copied it out. I have a question… In your answer to questions, you said you used DK weight yarn but the pattern calls for worsted weight with the needles required being 4mm and 4.5 mm. I believe these needles are for worsted weight. Do you reconfigure the yarn and the needles to get the size you want so it matches the original pattern or do you have a separate pattern for this piece? BTW I love your sweater! And it does look wonderful on you. Love the colour too! Funny how it looks more put together the way you knit it to what the old pattern is…

Thanks! :) The yarn I used is pretty old, old yarn that I don’t have its label attached. It is DK in olive green-ish shades. I think any DK would work perfectly. I truly hope you knit this sweater. As I keep advertising, it is such an easy and enjoyable knit and.. you can wear all seasons around. One of the sweaters that I feel absolutely wearable. Good luck!
